2022 Kia EV6 Sales Are Booming
Despite the global semiconductor supply shortage, Kia is witnessing great success with its all-electric EV6 Crossover. According to recent statistics, Kia has delivered 9,756 units of the EV6 since August 2021. For the month of October, the numbers were 5,101 units (2,762 units went to South Korea and 2,339 units for Europe). The Kia brand is expected to sell more EV6 models in the coming months and well into next year, especially as consumers transition to electric vehicles.
Sales Are Looking Positive
One of the major outcomes Kia wants for its EV6 Crossover is to have sustained sales on a monthly basis for all domestic and global markets which include South Korea, Europe, and the United States. By having a steady stream of monthly sales, Kia can analyze each quarter to see the trajectory of sales targets and adjust sales strategy accordingly. Thus far, deliveries are making their way to their destinations and ultimately to consumers in a timely manner.
What Makes the EV6 So Unique?
The Kia EV6 Crossover is built on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). A 58.0 kWh battery pack is configured for the entry-level trims and a larger 77.4 kWh battery is reserved for the upper trims. It also comes equipped with the choice of single motor and dual motor configurations, in addition to rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. According to Kia, the EV6 offers 800V ultra-fast charging capability and when paired with 350-kW fast chargers, the battery’s level of charge is able to be increased from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 18 minutes (given no interruptions).
What to Expect for the Future
For consumers here in the United States, there is good news because EV6 deliveries are scheduled for early 2022 for the U.S. market and headed toward Kia showrooms and directly to customers who placed orders. Besides the First Edition, Standard Range, and Extended Range trims, Kia is also planning to release a high-spec GT trim that will be available in late 2022 and it will be the fastest and most powerful production Kia model. It will arrive with a 576hp dual-motor capable of reaching 60mph in 3.5 seconds and topping out at 162mph (making it more powerful than a Porsche Taycan 4S). However, there are no official pricing figures just yet for the GT trim.
