The Latest Update On The 2026 Kia EV9 GT
Kia has announced the launch of its new electric vehicle, the EV9 GT. Although the information available on the vehicle is limited, Kia has stated that it will be released in January 2025 as a 2026 model-year vehicle. There are rumors that a concept version of the car may even be showcased at the 2024 LA Auto Show.
Kia’s CEO, Ho Sung Song, announced during the presentation that the EV9 GT will provide fast acceleration and stable driving performance. The car is expected to have a high power output and will be capable of going from 0 to 62 mph in just four seconds. The EV9 GT will be equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD) via two high-output motors mounted to a reinforced suspension for enhanced stability.
The Kia EV9 GT has been engineered to provide an exceptional driving experience, with a focus on smoothness and stability, particularly at high speeds. The car’s electric braking system is designed to deliver outstanding braking power, ensuring a safe and secure driving experience. The enhanced regeneration of the braking system aims to improve the car’s braking performance further, providing an even more comfortable and confident drive.
The EV9 features a state-of-the-art GT-Line trim that features dual motors, producing a combined output of 379 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. As a result, it ranks among the fastest three-row SUVs in the market, with an impressive 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 4.5 seconds. It boasts remarkable stopping power, with a distance of only 118 feet to come to a complete stop from 60 mph.
The EV9 GT is expected to build on this impressive performance with even more power and acceleration. While the current GT-Line trim has a range penalty of 270 miles at a full charge of its 99.8 kWh battery pack, the EV9 GT will use Hyundai Group’s 800-volt architecture battery pack. This will allow it to utilize 350 kW DC Fast Chargers to go from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 24 minutes. Consumers can also charge it at home using a 240-volt outlet and wake up to a fully charged EV9, making it a highly convenient option for those who want a reliable and efficient vehicle.
Kia’s commitment to electric vehicles doesn’t stop with the EV9 GT. The company plans to release more GT trim variants of its EV models in the future, promising to maximize comfort and performance with more OTA updates and capabilities. The company is also working on improving its various technologies, including a next-generation vehicle architecture, high-performance central computers, controller-integrated software, and even AI assistance for fuel efficiency in its ICE-powered models.
