Kia unveils EV3 SUV and EV4 Concepts at LA Auto Show

Kia made quite a splash at the 2023 LA Auto Show in the US by showcasing their latest additions to the electric vehicle market. These included the sleek and stylish EV3 (small SUV), which combines practicality with eco-friendliness, and the equally impressive EV4 (sedan concept), featuring cutting-edge technology and a sleek design. The new models are set to expand Kia’s already impressive EV lineup and offer drivers even more sustainable and efficient transportation options.

Kia celebrated the event by releasing a statement to the press. However, the statement provided minimal information, mostly focusing on the design while neglecting to mention any specifications or availability details. It’s worth noting that these are merely concepts at the moment, and concepts typically do not have any specifications attached to them.

The design of Kia’s EV3 concept car was heavily inspired by the design language of the much larger EV9 three-row SUV. The square-shaped wheel arches add to the already geometric exterior of the car, creating an overall boxy appearance.

The interior of the EV3 is quite minimalistic, with a clean dashboard reminiscent of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 dashboard, which Kia’s sister company produces. The Ioniq 5 rides on the E-GMP platform, which is used by most of Kia/Hyundai’s EV offerings, and the EV3 and EV4 will also be based on this platform.

The interior of the EV3 is designed to create a relaxing atmosphere, with mood lighting throughout the cabin and the use of natural fibers in the seats. The center armrest between the seats functions as a comfortable armrest and doubles as a table that slides forward and backward. The armrest has four different modes that cater to different needs, including Focus, Social, Refreshing, and Storage. It is made of natural materials, including mycelium, a type of fungus that makes it a sustainable and eco-friendly addition to the car’s interior.

Kia has also unveiled their latest EV4 concept car, which boasts a sleek and sporty design. The car has a low nose and a long tail with a small rear spoiler. The car’s body is tapered behind the rear wheels, known as long-tail cars, which helps reduce drag from aerodynamic eddies behind the vehicle. 

The EV4 has a wide and low stance, which adds to its sporty look. Kia claims that this car is a “new type of EV sedan,” which is a bold statement in the world of electric vehicles. The car’s interior is designed to be environmentally friendly, with recycled cotton and “handwoven fabric stripes” on the dashboard and cargo area, giving it a unique 3D look. 

The dash has a clean and simple design, similar to the EV3, but with a slide-out touchscreen that provides the user interface for the heating and air conditioning. The car’s spacious interior and advanced features make it a great option for those looking for a stylish and eco-friendly car.
