Kia recently unveiled its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) future strategy at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas. The PBV initiative is set to kick off with the launch of a brand new, modular vehicle, which the impressive Kia Concept PV5 has previewed. During a recent presentation, an innovative and forward-thinking vision was shared, outlining a multi-phase plan to revolutionize the mobility industry with Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs). The plan supports the Hyundai Motor Group’s objectives in robotics, Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), and autonomous driving. The ultimate goal of the Kia PBVs is to provide a comprehensive mobility solution that combines purpose-built electric vehicles with state-of-the-art software solutions based on the SDx approach. As a Platform Beyond Vehicle, Kia PBVs are engineered to redefine the concept of space. These PBVs offer sophisticated and personalized interiors that empower customers to explore new lifestyles and businesses with unparalleled freedom and flexibility. With Kia PBVs, customers can enjoy space tailored to their specific needs, whether for personal or business use.

“Kia’s PBV business represents our vision of going beyond the traditional concept of automobiles by fulfilling the unmet needs of diverse customers and communities through optimized vehicles and services catering to specific market and business circumstances,” said Ho Sung Song, Kia Corporation President and CEO.

Kia’s return to the Consumer Electronics Show marks the end of a five-year gap. The brand presents two exciting exhibitions at the event. One is called the PBV exhibition, located in the LVCC West Hall, based on the theme of ‘Place of Inspiration.’ This exhibition features five PBV concept vehicles and showcases how PBVs can inspire and shape the lives of individuals through a range of lifestyle and experience displays. The exhibition is divided into four visually distinctive colors, each representing a different display area, such as a park, city, home, and factory. Together, these displays highlight Kia’s PBV technology’s various benefits while showcasing their ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy and brand values.

The second exhibition in the CES Central Plaza is themed ‘EV Life for Everyone.’ This exhibition displays the futuristic Kia Connected Home and features the Kia Concept EV3, Concept EV4, EV6, and EV9 production models. Additionally, there is an exciting EV9 driving technology simulation, a ten innovative items exhibition, and demonstrations of Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) power supply (coming in the future) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) camping. This exhibition offers a glimpse into the future of electric vehicles and the innovative technologies that Kia is developing to make EV life accessible to everyone.
