The 2024 Kia EV9 Takes The Spotlight
The highly anticipated 2024 Kia EV9 is set to hit the market in late 2023, offering five different trims to choose from: Light, Light Long Range, Wind, Land, and GT-Line. With its potential to rival the success of the Telluride, this electric vehicle has the power to revolutionize the market and make a significant impact.
The 2024 Kia EV9 Trims
The Kia EV9’s entry-level Light model boasts an impressive 76.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack that sits on the floor and powers a single motor on the rear axle. This setup allows for an estimated range of 223 miles on a full charge, providing ample opportunity for adventure without worrying about needing a charge. The Light model may not be the most powerful option, but it still packs a punch with a power output of 215 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These numbers may seem modest for a heavy three-row vehicle, but they are well-suited for most daily driving needs. Despite its size and weight, the EV9 Light model can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a respectable 7.7 seconds, which is more than enough to keep up with traffic and make merging onto highways a breeze.
The Light Long Range variant in the EV9 series features a formidable 99.8-kWh battery, providing an impressive range of up to 300 miles. It’s important to note that the output has been slightly decreased to 201 hp while torque remains unchanged, which may result in a slower 0-60 acceleration time of 8.8 seconds. However, if the driver prioritizes range above all else in the EV9 lineup, this model is the ideal choice.
The Wind trim level provides an exceptional upgrade to the Kia EV model, including a second motor located at the front of the vehicle, resulting in an all-wheel drive system. This additional motor provides an impressive combined output of 379 horsepower and 443 lb-feet of torque, which results in swift acceleration of the vehicle in just 5.7 seconds. Even though the range is slightly reduced to 270 miles, this still remains above average for electric vehicles. However, if customers want to opt for the larger 20-inch wheels, the range will slightly decrease to 253 miles. Kia also offers the Boost “Feature on Demand” (FoD), which can be easily acquired through the infotainment system. This incredible feature boosts the torque to an impressive 516 lb-feet, providing even more power to the already impressive electric motor.
The Land and Wind trims of the electric vehicle have identical power output specifications. However, the Land trim comes with standard 20-inch wheels, which limit its range to 253 miles. In contrast, the GT-Line trim has 21-inch wheels and a higher torque of 516 lb-feet, resulting in an estimated range of 243 miles. The GT-Line trim is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.0 seconds, making it faster than the Land and Wind trims. This makes the GT-Line trim a great option for people who value both speed and range.
